Java issues

RG is a Java applet and Java must be installed for RG to work. If you don’t already have it on your computer you may be asked if you want to download it. Java is used in a lot of web applications and is very common on mobile phones. You can find out more by visiting www.java.com.

Sometimes, if you have spent a bit of time going backwards and forwards on RG the map fails to load and get a blank screen with “applet error” at the top left of the screen. If this happens, close down your browser and then start it up again.

You can test if your Java installation is working correctly on the Java website.

Wrong map showing?

The Sun java browser plugin has a bug, it thinks an image is the same if its path is the same and it comes from the same IP address.
For example it may think these images are the same image:

http://www.happyherts.routegadget.co.uk/kartat/1.jpg
http://www.ouoc.routegadget.co.uk/kartat/1.jpg

Same IP, same path “/kartat/1.jpg” -> same image.

Pushing browsers refresh button doesn’t refresh anything if you use Java.
If you are having this problem close the browser and delete your browsers cache, how do I clear my cache?.
