How to use it on your own computer

You can have an installation on your own computer. Electronic results data is not required but could be used if available.
This could be useful at a training camp.

You need to install a web server on your computer and have Java installed to be able to use RouteGadget.
I did produce a CD for the 2007 BOF Coaching Conference that had all the files required and it could even be run from a USB memory stick.
The instructions that went with it are available to download and they also include details of how to do it yourself.

If you have Skype open you may have problems running the standalone RouteGadget as they often use the same port, just close Skype and it should be OK.

Comments or questions

Do you know if it is possible to install RG standalone on Windows 7 ?

I would like to run RG and upload a Garmin route (tcx file)to a scanned copy of the map, so that I can review my route after a run.

I have it running on a Windows 7 machine.

But I have had problems in the past with some Vista machines that I never found a solution to. It is usually connected with permissions, and probably depends on the master security settings in Windows.

You will probably get a pop-up asking if Apache should be allowed to run and the answer is yes.

RouteGadget works better with a gpx file rather than a tcx.

Another option that you should investigate is QuickRoute by Mats Troeng, as this is designed for your intended use.

Thanks for the suggestions.
